MISS CONNIE'S BEARS
Connie Hindmarsh took her love for children from the television screen where she served as the hostess for the international children's show, ROMPER ROOM,
to her sewing machine.
Miss Connie also wrote, produced and was the featured performer on CONNIE'S MAGIC COTTAGE where she performed on CBS with HOWDY DOODY and CAPTAIN KANGAROO. During those years of interaction with millions of children, Connie discovered that the little ones and their Mothers were fascinated by her original bears and dolls. Thus, CONNIE HINDMARSH STUDIOS was launched featuring her bears, hares, folk art dolls and patterns.
Miss Connie's bears are displayed and sold at the AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM in New York City. She was a featured artist in TEDDY BEAR AND FRIENDS MAGAZINE where her designs appear frequently. The NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WOMEN IN THE ARTS showcased a Miss Connie Teddy on their Holiday Tree.
This photo emphasizes Miss Connie's love for "Teddy".
"The Japanese had just bombed Pearl Harbor. My mother and I were overseas and we were put on a troop ship to come to America. All that I could take was my teddy.
I still have the little guy today."
Connie holds a Bachelor of Science, and Master of Arts degrees. She recently retired from Norfolk Public Schools where she was a Master Teacher. She only boasts of being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family is her richest blessing.
